Brush Chipping & Mulching in Lake Charles
Every trimming and removal job we run ends the same way: a chipper turning limbs into mulch. But you don't have to book a full tree job to get chipping — if you've got a brush pile from your own weekend work, a fence line you cleared, or storm limbs still waiting, we chip by the load, on your schedule, and the mulch is yours to keep.
What We Chip
- Weekend-warrior piles. You cut, we chip. Fresh-cut limbs chip cleanest — leave them whole, no need to bundle or cut to stove length, the chipper eats 12-inch material whole.
- Fence-line and hedge cleanups. The volunteer pine and ligustrum thicket you just pulled — chipped where it lies, or dragged to the machine if you want the line clean behind us.
- Storm limbs. After every Gulf system, curbside and backyard piles. Fresh storm debris chips fast; the longer it sits and rots, the slower and pricier it gets — partially rotted material dulls teeth and jams the feed.
- Lot-clearing byproduct. On acreage jobs, land clearing biomass becomes mulch in place — the regrowth-suppressing ground cover that turns clearing into improvement.
One thing we don't chip: anything with old fence wire, nails, or banding in it — metal in the drum wrecks $400 in teeth in seconds. Stack the clean brush clear of the wire and we'll handle the rest.
Mulch: Put That Pile to Work
Fresh mixed chips are gold in a SWLA yard, and most folks don't realize what they're paying bag prices for. Chips suppress weeds, hold moisture through our brutal July-August stretch, feed the soil as they break down, and — used right — protect trees. Two rules we preach on every job: mulch rings 2–4 inches deep, kept pulled back from trunks and stems (no volcano mulching — wet chips against bark rot trees); and keep beetle-killed or diseased pine chips out of beds near healthy pines. For everything else, spread it and let it work.
Need more chips than your own job produces? We deliver — when a route has a load of clean chips and you're on it, delivery is cheap or free depending on distance. It's the same mulch, diverted from the dump. Tell us at booking or ask when you call.
How Chipping Is Priced
| Job | Typical Range | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Curbside pile (pickup-truck scale) | $100–$250 | Photos get you a firm number fast |
| Backyard pile, gate access | $150–$350 | Drag work priced by distance to machine |
| Half-day chipping (acreage, storm scale) | $450–$700 | Rates beat per-pile pricing past 3–4 piles |
| Chip delivery (clean load) | $0–$60 by route | Ask about the next truck near you |
| Included with our trim/removal work | In the quote | Standard on every job we cut |
Volume, freshness, and access drive the number — text a photo with something in frame for scale (truck, person, wheelbarrow) and we'll quote it without a site visit in most cases. Pricing guide.
Why Not Just Burn It?
Most dry summers Calcasieu Parish runs burn bans, a green brush pile smokes for days and annoys the whole block, and open burning near a structure is liability you don't need. Chipping is faster, cleaner, legal year-round, and leaves you with a usable product instead of a scorch mark. If you're pre-storm prepping and want the cut material gone before June 1, chip-and-haul pairs naturally with debris haul-off — chips for the beds, everything else to the truck.
